KCU Requests Correction to PAC Budget Number

The Administrative Report to Council on Capital Projects Update, prepared by City staff, will be presented to Council this Tuesday Jan 13/25. It spends pages praising the City’s capital project management and is the type of report relied on by external reviewers and award bodies when assessing performance.

Using the revised PAC project budget instead of the original estimate makes it appear as if there were never any increases and removes any clarity about how those increases occurred.

Presenting a major cost increase as settled and unproblematic contradicts the City’s own capital delivery data, presented at a recent Committee of the Whole meeting, which shows Kamloops already struggles to complete the projects it plans—putting essential services, other infrastructure projects, and taxpayers at risk.

KCU has submitted a formal request to Mayor and Council for a correction to the public record.
