Reality of Projects City Pushed Through Using AAP

The Kamloops public is starting to realize the reality of the $275M PAC/Multiplex projects that the city pushed through using the AAP process.

City council asked taxpayers to sign a blank cheque before they even had detailed information on the overpriced builds.

Doug Collins points out reasons why taxpayers need to speak up and “hold councils’ feet to the fire.”

As well, the city states that their legal fees are up over a MILLION dollars, and blames it in part on defending the AAP case.

FYI-We advise that plaintiff Kathrine Wunderlich’s legal expenses-though large for a citizen-do not equal 2% of that amount. 🤔

The public deserved to have complete and accurate information on the Build Kamloops Arts & Rec projects, and most importantly-to be notified of a potential need to vote on the $275M PAC/Multiplex-by referendum-not an AAP (reverse voting) process.

KCU proceeds to advocate for taxpayers in Kamloops. In terms of fiscal responsibility, we are pleased to see a projected property tax decrease; as well as city council members now recusing themselves more often in meetings.

We will continue to work towards improved accountability, communication, and transparency (ACT) within our city hall-but we need the support of you-the taxpayer.

We ask that you please consider a donation to assist with expenses and legal costs.

Every dollar is truly appreciated.
