During her election campaign in 2022, Kamloops City Councillor Margot Middleton publicly pledged to donate her council salary to local charities, citing her financial independence.

Years have passed, and the public has yet to see evidence of this commitment being honored.

Councillor Middleton may indeed have donated to charities-but in the interest of transparency for those that may doubt her; KCU’s position is that the Councillor should:

• Donate to charities that align with her priorities.
• Provide a list or other confirmation that she has lived up to her word.

This is not about the money—it’s about trust.

When leaders make promises, the community expects them to follow through-and we trust that Councillor Middleton will do just that.
