Shouldn’t the burden of proof lie with those accusing the Mayor?
Innocent until proven guilty, correct?
No evidence has ever been presented against him—just theatrical, media-driven accusations by City Council and administrative staff.
Despite repeated requests, they’ve made public claims of WorkSafe violations against the Mayor-without offering any proof whatsoever.
Similarly, accusations of bullying and harassment have been made, but again-no evidence has been provided—just baseless claims.
The discussion referenced in this article led to implementation of restrictions and a wage decrease for the Mayor. These actions were based on the belief that the Mayor had yelled and caused distress to staff, as supposedly indicated by witness statements to investigators. But now-with the revelation of this secret recording by Councillor Bill Sarai-it seems the situation has flipped.
It appears it may have been Sarai-not the Mayor-who caused the staff’s distress all along.
The Braun and Honcharuk reports, and the subsequent actions taken against the Mayor; were all based on the assumption that it was the Mayor who was the aggressor.
It is imperative that those making these accusations—Council members, administration staff, and the City—provide evidence to support their claims.
If the Mayor is guilty, the penalties are justified. However, if the accusations are baseless and proven false, those responsible for spreading them must be held accountable.
